A typical wish might involve meeting a celebrity, but for 13-year-old Alex, it looked a little different.

Thanks to Make-A-Wish New Jersey, the teen's wish became reality.

Alex, who aspires to become a trauma surgeon, was given a once-in-a-lifetime, behind-the-scenes medical experience in partnership with Hackensack Meridian Health. His day began where he learned how critically ill and injured patients are transported for emergency care.

Medical professionals guided him through the ins and outs of surgical preparation before bringing him into the operating room. There, he participated in a robotic surgery simulation and gained hands-on insight.

For a young teen with a passion, the opportunity to see and experience the life of a surgeon was more than a wish granted.
