Construction of a new Hoboken pier is taking longer than planned due to shipping delays, pushing back its planned opening.
"There [are] some materials that still need to come in and we are working on that as soon as possible," says Acting Mayor Dawn Zimmer.
Ground was broken on Pier C Park in 2007. Zimmer admits the city had hoped to be able to cut the pier's ribbon Thursday.
The mayor has nixed the idea of spending more money for faster shipping. Zimmer hopes to have work completed in the next few months.
