Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer recently stated that an additional 16 members have been fired from the World Trade Center Health Program.
The firings were a result of the Trump administration’s efforts to downsize the federal workforce.
Sens. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand want the administration to restore all staffers who were cut.
The program pays for health care for an estimated 137,000 people battling 9/11-related illnesses.
