A New Jersey senator is at the forefront of an attempt to stop the expiration of net neutrality rules.
The controversial repeal goes into effect on June 11, and some tech companies are worried that could mean internet services selling their product at different speeds or grouping websites into certain subscription plans.
The FCC voted to repeal these rules, arguing they stifled telecom companies and impeded growth.
Sen. Bob Menendez says Democrats will force a vote this week in an attempt to restore net neutrality.
All 49 Senate Democrats are in support, along with one Republican. The group needs one more person in support for it to move on to the House of Representatives.
"It is our hope that people will use their free and open internet to express themselves to their members of the Senate to get one more vote," says Menendez.
Menendez says the vote could take place on Wednesday.
