American flags now mark the spot where a bomb exploded in Seaside Park last week, as the shore town returns to normalcy.
The community was rocked by an explosion during a Marine Corps charity race, the first in a series of bomb attacks in New York City and New Jersey. But residents on Saturday said they are not giving in to fear.
"If you let stuff like that terrorist act scare you off, then the bad guys win," said Seaside Park resident Bill Milne.
A few miles north in Seaside Heights, St. Judes Children's Reasearch Hospital hosted its annual fundraiser walk to end childhood cancer. Like many events along the shore this weekend, security was increased following the bombings.
Event organizers said the goal was to remain vigilant and alert.
