The search for a robbery suspect in Garfield caused an elementary school to temporarily go on lockdown.
Police say one of their offices recognized robbery suspect Jamir Brown near Midland Avenue Tuesday afternoon. The officer tried to approach Brown, who ran into a nearby apartment building.
Officials say Brown holed up in the apartment with another person and refused to come out. Police surrounded the area, and Roosevelt School No. 7 was put on lockdown as a precaution.
Officers were able to arrest Brown inside the building. No one was hurt, and police say no weapons were involved.
