A shopper at Sam's Club in Secaucus says a cashier who rang him up was wearing a bracelet bearing a swastika.
Paul Fried, who is the son of a Holocaust survivor, says the clerk told him that her bracelet was not connected to the Nazi use of the symbol.
In a statement, Sam's Club apologized and said that "she had no intention to offend anyone. The symbol has more than one meaning...Even so, she has volunteered to no longer wear the bracelet while working."
Fried says that he does not want to the clerk fired or Sam's Club to be punished, but that he hopes people will take the incident as a lesson in respecting people's feelings and understanding history.
