The Salvation Army deployed three volunteers and its mobile kitchen from Ocean County Tuesday morning to support the Hurricane Irma recovery efforts in Florida.
The mobile kitchen, which the Salvation Army refers to as a canteen, is stocked with supplies to provide more than 1,000 per day.
Mike McIntyre, of the Salvation Army, said the three volunteers who left with the canteen will first head to Dencoe, North Carolina, where they will meet up with other canteens before heading to Florida.
“They volunteered no questions asked. They are leaving their families for 14 days to assist the Salvation Army New Jersey Division,” McIntyre said.
