Rutgers University is lifting its indoor mask mandate on campus starting October 1.

The new change allows students and teachers to choose whether to mask up if they are vaccinated.

Those who are exempt from receiving a vaccine and booster are still required to wear masks.

The mandate will also remain in effect for the university's medical, dental and nursing schools.
