A Rutgers University football player was kicked off the team due to sexual assault charges he is facing in Texas.
Dacoven Bailey is one of four men accused of raping a 15-year-old girl in his home state of Texas. The alleged assault reportedly happened in July.
Bailey was charged in December. A Rutgers spokesman said Saturday Bailey was dismissed from the school in January.
Bailey was going in to his third season with the Scarlet Knights. He had played in almost every game since he arrived on campus.
Bailey's mother said to a Texas television station that her son is being caught in a bad situation.
Rutgers didn't send out any press releases about kicking Bailey off the team. The school said Saturday it had no other disciplinary incidents with him.
Bailey was recruited by current coach Chris Ash.
