A Ringoes man says he's fulfilling his life's purpose by saving kitties.
Jonathan Rosenberg left a lucrative job to found Tabby's Place, a sanctuary for cats with rare and untreatable illnesses. Tabby's Place is named after his first cat, a victim of feline cancer.
"I pretended I was lying on my death bed and I was looking back at my life," says Rosenberg. "I thought what would I be sorry I hadn't done when I had the chance? and then I thought about doing something to help cats and that was it."
Tabby's Place is a no-kill sanctuary that adopts about 100 felines a year. Most of the cats living there come from shelters where they were set to be euthanized.
Volunteer Lori Stagnitto says spending time there is payment enough.
"It's like working in a candy story," she says. "I'm surrounded by so many sweet cats!"
Rosenberg says he makes less money now, but he wouldn't go back to his old life even if he had nine lives to live.
