Already dealing with struggling business, New Jersey restaurants don't find the idea of dining down this holiday very appetizing.
Restaurant owners who rely on holiday reservations expect business to be way down this year.
"I don't see it to be a successful Christmas Eve," says Joe Iossa, owner of Madison's Main Street Bar and Grill. "All my friends that I talk to in the restaurant business are down probably 10 to 15 percent."
Fellow Madison restaurant Rod's Steakhouse says Christmas Eve reservations are in tune with last year, but business after the holidays is uncertain.
"It's going to be the hardest year coming up that we've ever faced in our careers," says proprietor Eugene Keller.
While most eateries contacted replied low expectation, some like Main Street Bar and Grill are seeing an increase in alcohol sales.
