Some residents in Middlesex County panicked Monday when a pair of military jets unexpectedly streaked across the sky.
Lt. David Irizarry, of the Metuchen Police Department, says at around 2:30 p.m., he heard the roar of the jets and realized the building was shaking. According to the North American Aerospace Defense Command, two F-15 jets intercepted a private pilot who apparently strayed into airspace that was temporarily restricted because of President Barack Obama's visit to New York City.
A NORAD spokesman says the plane returned safely to the Central Jersey Regional Airport in Manville.
