Scattered thunderstorms will periodically drift through parts of northern and northwestern neighborhoods of New Jersey tonight. Thunder and flashes of lightning are possible.
Drenching rains will be the primary concern. Visibilities could be reduced quickly. I'm not anticipating severe weather tonight, but excessive rain could lead to localized flooding. This persistent rain should take us into the morning and early afternoon hours.
This weather system should be sliding east of our New Jersey beaches and out to sea later in the afternoon. The clouds will be slow to clear, even as the winds pick up behind the rains. Gusty winds at times and cloudy skies for Friday night into Saturday morning. By the late morning, the sun is shining brightly and the weekend looks fantastic.
Mother's Day will be beautiful on Sunday. Sunny and warm with temperatures well above average in the upper 70s.
