Several families were displaced Sunday night after the rear of a Somerset apartment complex caught fire.
Resident Janice Goines says she was only home for about 10 minutes before she saw her patio set burning outside. After calling 911, Goines and some other men tried to put out the fire themselves, but couldn?t.
Fire officials say the initial call they received was about a chair on fire. The blaze spread, burned up the outside and into the attic. Firefighters extinguished much of the fire within 20 minutes though some hot spots remained.
The investigation into the exact cause of the fire is ongoing, but everyone made it out safe. In total, inhabitants of eight of the 16 apartments were asked to relocate for the night.
