Residents and city officials gathered in Newark Thursday for the unveiling of a mural installation.
The artwork celebrates the city's rich music culture and history.
The installation features artwork by Newark-based artist Yasmin De Jesus.
"I incorporated music and vibrant colors and rhythm and movement into the mural, to symbolize energy and life and growth,” says De Jesus. "You can be whatever you want to be, as long as you put all your effort and your work into it and you stay focused, it doesn't matter, and I think that this community, all of us here, we're proof of that."
The mural is located at 29 Grafton Ave. in Newark's North Ward.
