A man who pulled a 10-year-old girl from the ocean in Belmar Friday evening is sharing his emotional experience.
Thomas Walsh says the moment of rescue quickly turned tragic when the body of the girl’s 13-year-old sister washed ashore a block north about 30 minutes later.
“I don't believe there was any time to have a high to be positive because the outcome of the second sister,” Walsh said. “Sure it was great to be able to save a life but knowing and seeing her sister didn't make it just kind of took away from whatever joy I possibly had with saving this young girl.”
The name and hometown of the young victim have not been released.
Walsh says this is the second time he’s saved a life this summer at the same jetty.
