Eighteen people at the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security are drawing both a salary and a pension at the same time, according to a new report by a government watchdog group. According to New Jersey Watchdog, double-dippers in the department have already cost taxpayers $9 million.
The report says that the biggest double-dipper is Deputy Director Drew Lieb, who earns a salary of $130,000 in addition to a $96,000 state police pension.
The group says that Acting Deputy Director Dennis Quinn makes $115,000 a year, plus a pension of $81,000.
Assistant Deputy Director Anne Kreigner brings home $108,000 in salary and $78,000 in retirement pay, the report indicates. This type of double-dipping is legal, but some have called on New Jersey lawmakers to stop the practice.
