Water service has been restored after an 8-inch water main break affected customers in the Bradley Gardens section of Bridgewater early Tuesday morning.

American Water said the break occurred around 2 a.m. and impacted approximately 20 customers. Crews completed repairs and restored water service several hours later.

The break happened on Sycamore Avenue near Linden Street, where residents in the surrounding area experienced low or no water pressure.

Road paving is now underway, and the roadway is expected to reopen later Tuesday morning.

Officials said the cause of the water main break remains unknown.

Water mains can break for a variety of reasons, including changes in pressure, temperature, soil conditions and age.

No boil water advisory was issued in connection with the break.
