There is
renewed concern as New Jersey sees an overall surge in
COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.
The
numbers haven't been seen in months. In
Monmouth County, there have been more than 1,300 confirmed cases in just a few
days’ time, and that's why there's a reestablished local effort,
such as today's in Asbury Park, to combat the virus with boosters and
first-time vaccinations.
The state on Monday reported another seven COVID-19 deaths
and 2,525 cases. Hospitals reported more than 1,200 patients for the first time
in seven months. Numbers like this haven’t been seen since May.
Health officials continue to encourage people
eligible for booster shots to get them and add an extra dose of protection.
