Newly released emails of Hillary Clinton reveal a New Jersey tie.
The emails contain some messages from the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg urging the Obama administration to intervene in a custody dispute between a New Jersey father and the Brazilian family of his late ex-wife in 2009.
Sen. Lautenberg called on the Brazilian government to reunite Sean Goldman with his father David Goldman after the boy's mother left with him on a two-week trip and then never returned. The mother later died while giving birth to the child she had with her new husband.
Lautenberg worked on a trade deal that pressured Brazil into eventually returning Sean Goldman to the United States.
The emails were part of nearly 7,000 pages of emails released by the State Department during Clinton's time as secretary of state. About 150 of them were censored because they contained classified information.
