The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office ruled the death of a Red Bank teacher a homicide Wednesday.
Prosecutors had originally called 33-year-old Jonelle Melton's death suspicious. Melton's body was found in her Neptune City apartment off West Sylvania Avenue. Sources close to the investigation told News 12 New Jersey that Melton was shot in the head, though the prosecutor's office has not yet confirmed how she was killed.
Anyone with information about the killing can call the prosecutor's office at 1-800-533-7443 or Neptune City police at 732-775-1615.
Grief counselors were on hand at Red Bank Middle School to help students.
