As Red Bank prepares for the borough?s annual July fireworks display at Riverside Gardens Park, police are preparing for road closures and traffic.
Police Chief Mark Fitzgerald said he has heard between 100,000 and 170,000 people plan to attend the Fourth of July festivities on Tuesday, July 3. Many are eager to see the skies light up over the Navesink River.
Police are advising residents to arrive early and be patient when leaving. The NJ Transit is adding extra train cars for the event. Those driving should be aware of some street closures around the park. Club Lane, all of Warf Ave., Riverview St. and Washington St. will be barricaded after 4 p.m. Tuesday. Between 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., Front Street between Maple and Spring streets will be closed, as well as part of Board St.
Parking will be available at the garage on Globe Court.
The fireworks display begins around 9:15 p.m., but the fireworks committee said there will be entertainment all day long. There will be food, vendors and activities for children.
