Red Bank man charged with deadly hit-and-run

Authorities determined that 40-year-old Jose Rodriquez-Jimenez struck Codallos-Tepepa while driving a Ford Econoline van. Rodriquez-Jimenez did not stop at the scene and failed to report the accident to police.

A Red Bank man has been charged with fatally striking a pedestrian and leaving the scene.
Shrewsberry police responded to a 911 call for an unresponsive male lying in the roadway along Shrewsberry Avenue on Aug. 5 around 2:45 a.m.
The pedestrian, identified as 23-year-old Brick resident Mariano Codallos-Tepepa, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Authorities determined that 40-year-old Jose Rodriquez-Jimenez struck Codallos-Tepepa while driving a Ford Econoline van. Rodriquez-Jimenez did not stop at the scene and failed to report the accident to police.
Rodriguez-Jimenez was charged with one count of second-degree Knowingly Leaving the Scene of an Accident Under Certain Circumstances.
