An audio recording made by a fellow officer has surfaced that describes alleged police brutality in Stafford.
The recording was made four years ago by now retired Lt. John McManamin. In the recording, Sgt. David Johnson describes a beating suffered by Dr. Roger Taylor during his 2000 arrest.
According to Stafford's police chief, Johnson has admitted he's speaking on the tape but has recanted the content.
On the tape, Johnson says Taylor was "getting crushed out" while in handcuffs.
Police had been called for a domestic incident involving Taylor. He was charged and later convicted of assaulting his then girlfriend.
Taylor filed an excessive force complaint after his arrest. Three agencies investigated his claim, finding no wrongdoing.
