Ramapo High School
football coach Drew Gibbs, a legend in New Jersey football, has died
at the age of 59.
Gibbs has been a mainstay at Ramapo
over two decades, leading the Raiders to seven sectional titles.
He was at practice Monday getting his team ready
for the upcoming championship game against Northern Highlands when he started
having chest pains. It was an aortic tear.
Emergency surgery couldn't save Gibbs, who died
Tuesday as a result of complications.
The team had been set to
play in the state championship game. The status of the championship game is in limbo.
