Loved ones came together Saturday to mourn the loss of one of New Jersey’s top football coaches.
Drew Gibbs led Ramapo High School to seven sectional titles over 20 years. He died Tuesday from complications during emergency heart surgery at 59-years-old.
Thousands came together at Cornerstone Church in Wyckoff to pay their respects to Coach Gibbs who was described by many as a mentor, teacher, friend, and overall honest and caring man.
"He was just kind of the face of the community. Everyone knew him…he wasn't just a father to three kids – he was a father to 500 kids, thousands of kids,” said Sean Clapp, a former Ramapo football player.
The viewing was open to the public.
