The brief break from the intense heat and humidity this summer is becoming known for was a welcome relief today. I think it's likely tomorrow will also be the same way after some possible trouble spots with morning downpours.

Some of these rains will be accompanied by grumbles of thunder and flashes of lightning. Visibilities will drop quickly and water will collect rapidly on streets and highways. Slow down and give yourself extra space between you and the driver ahead of you should that happen.

After the rain? Overcast with hints of sunshine. The wind should still be slightly off the ocean so I am not expecting the heat to build. In fact, it should be slightly below normal again tomorrow with highs in the mid-80s.

Thursday is expected to be another dreary day but the expected rain will be the weather system that ushers in fantastic weather starting on Friday, lasting through the weekend and again into next week.

OVERNIGHT: Cloudy skies with some overnight showers. Lows around 74.

WEDNESDAY: Rain showers early with overcast skies later in the day. Rain returns by the evening. Highs around 83 with lows around 74.

THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy with a stray rain shower or thunderstorm. Highs around 85.

FRIDAY: Mainly sunny with some afternoon clouds. Highs in the mid-80s.

WEEKEND: Mostly sunny with highs in the upper-80s.
