The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office says a married couple from Toms River has been charged with promoting prostitution and money laundering.
According to prosecutors, Wayne Lefkowitz, 56, and Guihua Cui, 51, owned a business known as Spa 1800 on Lakewood Road.
Prosecutors say although the spa appeared to be operating as a legitimate business, people patronizing the spa were offered sexual favors in exchange for money.
Prosecutors also say the pair deposited the money in different accounts to try to avoid New Jersey reporting requirements.
Lefkowitz and Cui were each charged on summonses pending a future court date.
