Prosecutors have joined the investigation into what sparked the fire that destroyed the C-Town Supermarket in South Amboy.
Flames tore through the C-Town on Bordentown Avenue late Monday afternoon. It marked the second fire at the supermarket within four months.
The first was an electrical fire that occurred in early January, shutting down the C-Town as it made renovations. The supermarket was supposed to reopen next week.
Residents in the area are now without a major supermarket. Some say that while there are other options such as ShopRite within a couple miles, they are difficult to get to without a car. They also say there are smaller, local food stores, but that none provide many fresh and healthy options.
The building was also severely damaged by Superstorm Sandy back when it was a Foodtown.
