A former youth tennis instructor recently convicted at trial was sentenced Friday to 56 ½ years in state prison for committing multiple sex crimes.
Authorities say 32-year-old Terry Kuo was accused of sexual misconduct against one of his former students. The offenses dated back to 2016, when the victim was 12 years old.
Monmouth County prosecutors say the suspect gave the victim expensive gifts while coercing her to engage in sexual activity with him.
Kuo will have to serve a minimum 85% of his sentence before the possibility of parole, according to authorities.
