A Dix Hills man is accused of trying to hire a hit man to murder his former business partner.
Nassau District Attorney Anne Donnelly says law enforcement thwarted a murder-for-hire plot.
Navdeep Singh was arrested for allegedly hiring a would-be hitman to kidnap and murder a former business associate.
“Not just dead, he wanted him dismembered, he told the hit man he wanted a picture of the man’s head and another of his body," said Nassau District Attorney Anne Donnely.
Singh allegedly worked with the wealthy victim at construction jobs, and they had a falling out years ago, resulting in civil litigation.
According to the DA, he offered $100,000 and land in India to complete the kill job - and before the victim was killed, Singh allegedly wanted several million dollars transferred to his account from him as well.
Between May 29 and this weekend, the defendant met with the would-be hit man several times, purchased burner phones to avoid detection and made a downpayment of $7,000 for the job.
The DA says the hired hitman turned Singh in, and time was of the essence, as the DA says Singh allegedly said he was tired of waiting.
Singh pleaded not guilty to the charges he is facing.
