Students back at Matawan Regional H.S. after non‑credible threat prompted lockdown

Officials say that no credible threat was found and that all students and staff are safe.

Students returned to Matawan Regional High School this morning after a threatening phone call prompted a lockdown across the district on Monday.

Police say the call was reported to the main office Monday afternoon. The school resource officer and district staff immediately placed the high school on lockdown, and all other schools in the Matawan‑Aberdeen Regional School District followed as a precaution.

Officials say no credible threat was found and all students and staff were safe. The nature of the threat was not immediately provided.

In a letter to families Monday, Superintendent Nelyda Perez said classes would resume today as scheduled.
