Prosecutor: House fire kills 98-year-old Roxbury woman

The fire caused a portion of the house to collapse. Officiails say it is uninhabitable.

An elderly woman was found dead following a massive fire at a home in Roxbury Township.

The fire happened Tuesday afternoon at a home on Mooney Road in the Ledgewood section of the town. First responders found a 71-year-old man outside the home when they arrived. He was taken to the hospital for severe fire-related injuries.

After the fire was put out, officials say firefighters found a 98-year-old woman dead on the second floor. Her identity was not immediately released.

The fire caused a portion of the house to collapse. Officiails say it is uninhabitable.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
