Charges have been upgraded against a Westfield man accused in a deadly hit-and-run crash in West New York earlier this month.
Officials say 20-year-old Samuel Collazo is now charged with leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death.
Collazo is accused of striking a pedestrian with his motorcycle near Bergenline Avenue and 57th Street on Aug. 17. He and another man took off from the scene, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s office.
Officials say a second man involved in the crash, 20-year-old Rylan Cook-Figueroa, was previously charged with endangering an injured victim. The victim was identified as 54-year-old Angel Guzman-Morales, who died on Aug. 24 from his injuries.
