Princeton University says a student was bitten by a raccoon on campus Monday near the Art Museum neighborhood. The student who was bit told News 12 New Jersey via text Wednesday that she’s doing fine after the frightening experience.
Several other raccoon encounters were also reported recently in the town, according to the university. They say the animal on campus and in the community exhibited behaviors consistent with infection from rabies virus.
The university says they are in contact with animal control who is working to capture the animal. There is no word on the condition of the student.
If you see or have an encounter with a raccoon on campus, the university says do not approach, feed or touch it. Leave the area and call the Department of Public Safety at 609-258-1000.
