New allegations of underage drinking on the Princeton University campus may spell trouble for some of the school?s historic eating clubs.
Presidents of three of the eating clubs are facing underage drinking-related charges brought by the municipal prosecutor. The charges stem from incidents involving students who required medical attention. The prosecutor is threatening to shut down several of the clubs.
The eating clubs operate independently of the university and serve as places to eat and socialize.
Students on campus say the clubs do what they can to prevent underage drinking, like having tough bouncers and bracelets for those over 21.
An officer at one of the clubs says he just received information about the charges and it is too soon to tell what the next move will be.
