Powerful thunderstorms bring hail, damaging winds to parts of New Jersey
Parts of New Jersey saw hail and damaging winds as a line of severe thunderstorms moved through the area.
The National Weather Service issued severe thunderstorm warnings and watches for the state Thursday afternoon. The storms cleared out by Thursday evening, but strong wind advisories are still in effect for most of New Jersey.
New Jerseyans should be cautious of the wind, as it may cause trees, branches and utility lines to fall. There is also the possibility of power outages.
Roughly 16,000 utility customers were without electrical service Thursday afternoon, though most were expected to have their service restored by Thursday night at the latest.
Utility companies, including PSE&Gs, say that they had crews at the ready to go out and make repairs to ensure reliable service for all New Jerseyans – who have been forced to remain inside their homes due to the coronavirus pandemic.

News 12 New Jersey Meteorologist Dave Curren says that there may be the opportunity for some snow squalls overnight.
Friday is expected to see windy weather with a mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures will be in the low-50s.
