Electricity has been restored to thousands of Hudson County residents Wednesday night after a major power outage left them in the dark for hours.
PSEG says that there were over 20,000 customers without power in parts of Union City, Weehawken, North Bergen and Hoboken after an equipment failure at one of the utility company's substations.
Various law enforcement departments were on hand to direct traffic and maintain order in the towns while the power was out.
The outage also caused the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail to bypass the Bergenline Avenue Station for a time.
PSEG did not say why the circuit failed, but the system has been repaired.
