Last Friday, the state agreed to a settlement with New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency Chief of Staff Katherine Brennan.
Brennan was a volunteer on Gov. Phil Murphy's 2017 campaign when she says she was the victim of a rape by campaign official Al Alvarez.
Months after Alvarez got a job at the Schools Development Authority despite knowledge of her allegation, Brennan went to Murphy administration officials with her account. Alvarez remained at his six-figure state job - and got a raise - until Brennan went public.
After she went public, there was a legislative investigation of Murphy administration hiring practices, reforms that have been signed into law, and a re-examination of the toxic culture within New Jersey politics.
Brennan joins this week's Power and Politics program.
