A week has passed since the public learned that New Jersey Lt. Gov. Dale Caldwell is under investigation.
A source told News 12 that the investigation by former New Jersey Attorney General Chris Porrino is very likely near its conclusion.
The state retained Porrino and the law firm Lowenstein Sandler back in June.
The story, first reported by the New Jersey Globe, has sparked a firestorm of criticism.
To recap, Caldwell is under investigation over allegations of inappropriate behavior with women and potential ethics violations.
Gov. Mikie Sherrill released a statement talking about treating any reports of inappropriate behavior extremely seriously. She added that if the evidence warrants, she will take appropriate action.
The statement, however, was cryptic at best and made no mention of Caldwell, nor did Sherrill use his name as she was peppered by reporters this week.
This week marked 25 years since the day that forever changed America, the day al-Qaeda terrorists targeted Americans' way of life by killing nearly 3,000 innocent people at the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Twenty-five years later, the acts of depravity of that day continue to claim lives. Nearly 9,700 people have now died from 9/11-related illnesses.
Twenty-five years later, there are radicals in the political spectrum who have despicably claimed America deserved it.
And still countless others, a generation of Americans who have no memory of the evil perpetrated that morning.
