The state Attorney General’s Office is charging three corrections officers with beating at least two female inmates at the state’s prison for women. State legislators from both parties have called on Gov. Phil Murphy to fire Corrections Commissioner Marcus Hicks. Those calls only increased with the arrests this past week, and Attorney General Grewal is vowing more charges will be filed.
Joining the show Democratic Sen. Linda Greenstein, who represents parts of Mercer and Middlesex counties, and was one of the first to call for Commissioner Hicks to go.
Also joining the show is Rutgers-Camden associate professor Beth Rabinowitz, who has been pointing out jarring parallels between struggling democracies she's studied in Africa and patterns of populism and nationalism in our country. She warns civil war could break out in the United State more easily than you think.
