Port Authority says a JetBlue plane from Newark Liberty International Airport headed for the Dominican Republic was diverted to John F. Kennedy Airport Sunday.
An official confirms to News 12 that the plane was diverted after the crew reported a handful of travelers and crew members were feeling sick. It was previously reported that the crew had smelled an unusual odor, but JetBlue confirms there was no odor.
The flight continued on a different aircraft.
JetBlue says in a statement, "JetBlue flight 1203 from Newark, N.J. to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic diverted to New York-JFK out of an abundance of caution after the crew reported a handful of customers and crew members feeling unwell. The aircraft will be inspected before returning to service, and flight 1203 is now continuing to Santo Domingo on a different aircraft."
