Louisiana State University gymnast and popular TikTok star Olivia Dunne met with fans to share an important message about respect.
Dunne’s sports journey began at ENA Gymnastics in Paramus. She has had a successful career and is currently the most followed college athlete on social media with 6 million followers on TikTok.
Dunne took to social media and asked her fans to “be respectful” to fellow competitors, a message her coach Craig Zappa agrees with.
“Cheer your hearts out for the people you want but you have to do it in a respectful manner that way everyone feels safe, feels secure,” Zappa said.
Dunne’s monumental popularity on social media has led to an increased interest in gymnastics.
“There's more notoriety and people that haven’t been fans are coming to these meets and build college gymnastics up for all the younger girls,” Zappa said.
Zappa says Dunne had to navigate how to balance social media and her gymnastics life, and he believes she has done a good job doing that
Dunne is now remaining an important voice in the sport of gymnastics, and leading back to her most recent message to fans: “have fun, but let us do our job.”
