A poll from Stockton University found that most New Jersey adult residents are in favor of a proposal to ban smoking inside Atlantic City’s casinos.
The poll found that just over 62% of New Jersey residents support the smoking ban bill, while 31% oppose it.
The poll also found that it varies by region of the state, with 66% of northern New Jersey residents supporting a ban, compared to 59% of South Jersey residents.
Smoking was banned inside casinos for a time during the COVID-19 pandemic, but that ban was lifted.
Now state lawmakers have proposed a permanent ban.
Many casino workers have lobbied for the ban.
Those opposed to the ban say that it will lead to a loss of revenue for the casinos.
