Poll: Majority of NJ residents believe Sen. Menendez should resign amid indictment

A majority of New Jersey residents believe that Sen. Bob Menendez should resign, according to a new poll by Monmouth University.

The Democrat is facing federal bribery, fraud and extortion charges.

The poll found that 63% of New Jerseyans say the senator should resign, while 33% say he should be allowed to wait and see how the charges against him are settled. Four percent say they do not know.

Menendez has denied any wrongdoing.

His term is up this year, and he has not yet stated if he would be running for reelection. Rep. Andy Kim and first lady Tammy Murphy are among several Democrats running for the Senate seat.
