A tree fell on top of a Union County woman during Wednesday night's thunderstorms, police say.
Elizabeth police tell News 12 New Jersey that the tree hit the 38-year-old woman around 10 p.m. The tree reportedly broke off and trapped her.
The Elizabeth Fire Department responded to the scene and set her free. She was conscious at that time, according to authorities.
The woman was brought to Trinitas Regional Medical Center to be treated for injuries that are not life-threatening.
Authorities are not sure what caused the tree to fall, but say it could have been lightning or wind.
The extent of the woman's injuries was not immediately made clear.
