South Brunswick police made good on their promise to throw a pizza party for a group of young teens who showed kindness to a boy with autism and taught him how to skateboard.
Gavin Mabes, 13, and his friends met 5-year-old Carter Braconi at the skate park behind the South Brunswick Police Station.
Carter has autism and was at the park to celebrate his birthday. His mother said that Carter was initially scared that the older kids would make him leave the park. But the teens soon bonded with Carter and even sang “Happy Birthday” to him.
The teens and Carter met up once again Wednesday for a pizza party and celebratory cookies, all thanks to South Brunswick police.
