Teaneck police say a 16-year-old boy wearing a clown mask stabbed another teen in the face and buttocks on Halloween night in the town.
Police say the incident happened around 9 p.m. at Seasons Express store on Cedar Lane. They say a 14-year-old boy suffered a deep face laceration and a stab wound to his buttocks.
“At first I’m like, ‘That’s a really impressive costume,’ because he was pleading all over the place,” says store clerk Jaime Azcona. ‘He started screaming, ‘Call the cops, call the cops. Help us.’”
Witnesses told police that the attacker was wearing dark clothing and a clown mask. Police say they found the 16-year-old with a bloody utility knife.
“Based upon a preliminary investigation, it does not appear the assault was precipitated by any type of confrontation or problem between the involved persons,” police said in a statement.
Police stopped the 16-year-old on Linden Avenue and West Grove Street.
The 14-year-old was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center and was treated for injuries not considered life-threatening.
The 16-year-old was charged with a juvenile delinquency complaint consisting of aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes.
