A teenager has been accused of killing a dog by setting it on fire in Newark.
News 12 New Jersey reported earlier this month that a dog was found beaten and set on fire near Columbia Avenue and Plymouth Street. A resident says that he was woken up by a group of people knocking over garbage cans and damaging cars in the area. He says when he went outside the next morning, he discovered the dead dog.
Newark police have arrested a 17-year-old boy and charged him with animal cruelty, arson and criminal mischief. His name was not publicly released due to his age.
Police have also issued a warrant for 22-year-old Kamal Loyal and a 15-year-old girl in connection with the crime.
Anyone who may have information about the case should contact the Newark Police Department.
